THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SANTA MONICA HONORS MONSIGNOR LLOYD TORGERSON & THE ST. MONICA CATHOLIC COMMUNITY AT 37th ANNUAL AUCTION & DINNER

Sponsored by US Bank, OneWest Bank, the Caruso Family, and Pacific Youth Foundation

SANTA MONICA, CA – On Friday, November 2nd, 2012, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica (SMBGC) presented its 37th Annual Auction & Dinner at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica. The event honored Monsignor Lloyd Torgerson and the St. Monica Catholic Community for their generous support of the Club and our Community over the years. View photos of the event here. This exciting event gathered civic & business leaders and hundreds of community members for an evening of silent and live auctions and a chance to mix and mingle with Club supporters & friends over delectable hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and a delicious dinner in the Starlight Ballroom. View our Auction Tribute Video for Monsignor Torgerson here.

This event is our Club’s largest source of unrestricted funding, which helps to ensure we can continue to improve and sustain the programs we offer to the youth in our community. The event’s success depends upon the support of our community, and this year we truly made a meaningful impact due to the immense generosity of our supporters. We brought in over $370,000, which will go a long way toward expanding and enhancing our programs and services.

SMBGC’s Annual Auction & Dinner has been a must-attend event for the Santa Monica community for over 36 years. Each year, hundreds of community members come together to mingle and enjoy live and silent auctions, cocktails, a delicious dinner and more. Together, they celebrate SMBGC’s impact on L.A. area youth and the community at large.  The Club has helped increase high school graduation rates and reduce teenage motherhood and juvenile crime for participating youth, as measured through a 2010 study commissioned by the Boys and Girls Club.  The positive impacts reach even further to the families of its young members, who are able to work and go to school thanks to the Club’s various programs.

“We were very honored to have so many supporters come together at this event. We appreciate the unwavering support of our community and we look forward to continuing the strong relationship we have with the St. Monica Catholic Community. We wish the very best to Monsignor Torgerson and the St. Monica Catholic Community in all of their future endeavors,” says Aaron Young, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Monica.
